Peking University First Hospital operates 36 clinical departments, 11 technological departments, one research department, and four research institutes, supported by 59 wards and 1,805 open beds. The hospital serves an average of approximately 10,000 outpatient visits daily, admits more than 100,000 patients annually, and performs around 40,000 surgical procedures each year. With more than 3,600 full-time staff, including senior academic faculty and medical specialists, the hospital supports large-scale clinical services, education, and research activities.

Clinical Excellence & Academic Leadership

Peking University First Hospital is recognized for comprehensive clinical services and multidisciplinary diagnostic and treatment capabilities across a broad range of medical specialties. The hospital hosts a National Clinical Medical Research Center and maintains 19 specialties included in the National Clinical Key Specialty Construction Program, including 18 key specialties and one key specialty laboratory. It is also home to 12 National Key Disciplines, a National Drug Clinical Trial Institution, and a National Medical Device Clinical Trial Institution, while participating in the Beijing Research Ward Demonstration Project to support integration between clinical care and scientific research. As a designated referral center, the hospital manages a significant proportion of patients with complex or refractory conditions referred from across China.
