Pennsylvania-based Avantor has announced that Gregory L. Summe, an independent director since 2020, will become Chairman of the Board effective January 1, 2026. The leadership change follows Jonathan Peacock’s decision to step down as Chairman and director at the end of 2025, concluding nearly nine years of service on the company’s board.

Since joining Avantor’s Board, Summe has chaired the Nominating and Governance Committee and served on the Compensation Committee. With a background as a CEO and board member in the tools and life sciences sector, he brings deep industry and leadership experience to his new role.

Outgoing Chairman Jonathan Peacock reflected on his tenure, noting his role in overseeing Avantor’s leadership transition to new CEO Emmanuel Ligner and helping position the company as a strong player in life sciences. He stated that the addition of Gregory Lucier to the Board and the appointment of Summe signal the right moment for new leadership. Peacock expressed confidence in Avantor’s management and board to continue driving long-term growth and value creation.

Summe expressed appreciation for Peacock’s leadership and commitment to the company, emphasizing his intent to work closely with the board and executive team to advance Avantor’s strategy for growth and profitability. He noted that his time on the board has provided valuable insight into the company’s talent and capabilities, positioning Avantor well for its next phase of development under new leadership.
