Command Medical Products Acquires IMATS to Expand Medical Device Manufacturing Platform in Costa Rica
Command Medical Products, a medical device contract manufacturer and an Argosy Healthcare Partners portfolio company, has announced the acquisition of Injection Moulding & Tooling Services S.A. (IMATS), a Costa Rica-based provider of injection molding and tooling services. The acquisition extends Command’s capabilities across the medical device manufacturing value chain and establishes a third manufacturing site in Costa Rica.
By adding IMATS’ expertise in injection molding and tooling, Command now offers a fully integrated suite of services spanning component production through finished device assembly, including tooling design and fabrication, injection molding, tube extrusion, RF welding, clean room assembly, and packaging. The expanded capabilities position Command to support customers more comprehensively in developing and manufacturing medical device products.
IMATS operates from a 32,000-square-foot facility in the Free Trade Zone in Cartago, Costa Rica. The company provides injection molding, pad printing, assembly, and packaging, as well as comprehensive injection mold tooling design, manufacturing, and validation services. The facility has significant available capacity, with the ability to more than double its current production volumes.
Mike Fillion, CEO of Command Medical Products, stated that IMATS adds important injection molding and tooling capabilities that complement Command’s existing extrusion, welding, and assembly operations, and that the combination expands the manufacturing solutions the company can provide customers while enhancing its ability to serve as a single-source partner across a broader range of projects.
