Baar, Switzerland-base CorFlow Therapeutics AG has raised €44 million in a Series B funding round to further develop its CoFI system, a novel diagnostic and drug delivery platform aimed at addressing Microvascular Obstruction (MVO) in heart attack patients. The funding, led by Broadview Ventures and Panakes Partners with participation from several international investors, will support an international pivotal trial to diagnose MVO and a randomized controlled trial to evaluate new therapeutic treatments.

The CoFI system is designed to detect MVO in heart attack patients immediately after stent implantation, potentially improving outcomes by identifying this condition in real-time within the catheter lab. In addition to its diagnostic capabilities, the CoFI system is equipped to deliver localized therapeutics to the microvasculature, providing a comprehensive solution to a critical unmet medical need. The financing will also support trials in both the U.S. and Europe, aimed at gaining market clearance for the technology and exploring its potential therapeutic benefits.

MVO, which affects over half of all acute heart attack patients, is a key predictor of heart failure and mortality, yet it often goes undiagnosed and untreated. CorFlow’s CoFI system aims to address this gap by enabling early detection and targeted therapy, ultimately reducing healthcare costs and improving patient outcomes. The new funding will also support further clinical studies to expand the application of this technology in other areas of cardiovascular medicine.
