Edward Zhou Appointed as President of Johnson & Johnson MedTech China

Johnson & Johnson has announced that Edward Zhou will assume the role of President of Johnson & Johnson MedTech China, reporting to Vishnu Karla, Chairman of Johnson & Johnson MedTech Asia Pacific, effective 25 July 2024. He will also be a member of the Johnson & Johnson MedTech Asia Pacific leadership team and will lead Johnson & Johnson MedTech China in driving the company’s long-term winning strategy, accelerating business growth and building a culture of innovation, patient service and compliance.

Zhou joined Johnson & Johnson in 1992 as a sales representative and later served as General Manager of Johnson & Johnson’s Consumer Products business in Singapore. Upon his return to China, he led the company’s successful acquisition of Dabao and its successful integration under the Johnson & Johnson umbrella. For the next three years, he served as General Manager of Johnson & Johnson Consumer Products China, and in 2015, he joined Johnson & Johnson MedTech China as Vice President of the Surgical Business for the Axiom Healthcare Division, becoming General Manager of Axiom Healthcare China in 2016. During this time, he has driven continuous business innovation, accelerated market penetration, optimised the product portfolio, driven digital transformation and facilitated localised smart manufacturing of advanced surgical products at Johnson & Johnson Medical Technology Suzhou Industrial Park.

In addition, Zhou has diverse industry experience. Prior to rejoining Johnson & Johnson, as President of Cytiva Greater China, a Danaher biotech company, he led the team that completed the company’s integration with Pall Science. Johnson & Johnson’s medical device business entered the Chinese market in 1994, focusing on surgical, orthopaedic, cardiovascular and specialty solutions. Today, China is not only the second largest market for Johnson & Johnson MedTech worldwide, but also one of the most important strategic markets in the world.
