Enea TECH and Biomedical Foundation have announced a €15 million investment in Milan-based Tethis S.p.A. to advance the development of new diagnostic methods for oncology using liquid biopsy, a non-invasive blood test that detects tumor traces. This investment, which adds to prior funding from Genextra and Indaco Venture Partners, will propel Tethis’s diagnostic advancements forward.

Tethis is enhancing cancer diagnostics with its innovative platform, which integrates the See.d® blood sample preparation instrument, SmartBioSurface® slides coated with nanomaterials, and AI algorithms to detect tumor-origin cells. This technology enables detailed cellular and molecular analyses for precise tumor diagnosis, monitoring disease progression, and potentially early detection.

Holger Neecke, CEO of Tethis, highlighted the investment’s role in accelerating the platform’s development and commercial readiness. “This funding will enable us to provide oncologists and researchers with critical tools for precision diagnostics and personalized cancer treatment,” said Neecke.

Maria Cristina Porta, General Manager of ENEA Tech and Biomedical Foundation, emphasized Italy’s leadership in precision medicine. “Our investment supports groundbreaking technologies like liquid biopsy, setting the stage for transformative health solutions that enhance patient care,” noted Porta.
