The financing was supported by HEAL Venture Lab, a Singapore-based healthcare venture builder focused on advancing innovative medical technologies and healthcare solutions across Asia-Pacific.

The AAA-SHAPE Pivotal Trial is evaluating the safety and effectiveness of the IMPEDE-FX RapidFill Device when used alongside endovascular aneurysm repair to proactively manage the abdominal aortic aneurysm sac. The randomized, multicenter study recently completed enrollment and will follow patients for five years. FLAGSHIP is a first-in-human clinical study evaluating the company’s investigational False Lumen Embolization System for treatment of aortic dissection false lumen, designed to evaluate safety and preliminary signs of efficacy with two-year patient follow-up.

Backed by a global syndicate of healthcare investors including HBM Healthcare Investments, Earlybird Venture Capital, and WexMed II, Shape Memory Medical has developed a proprietary shape memory polymer platform that utilizes a low-density, highly porous embolic material delivered through a catheter in compressed form that self-expands upon contact with blood. The bioresorbable material is designed to promote organized thrombus formation, adapt to complex vascular anatomy, and maintain radiolucency to facilitate imaging during patient follow-up.

Ted Ruppel, President and CEO of Shape Memory Medical, said the financing strengthens the company’s position as it enters a potentially transformative period. Ruppel noted that with enrollment recently completed in the AAA-SHAPE Pivotal Trial and continued progress in FLAGSHIP, the company is focused on generating the clinical evidence needed to support broader adoption of its shape memory polymer technology in aortic applications. Ruppel added that the company is pleased to welcome August Global Partners and Taiwania Capital as investors and appreciates the continued support of existing shareholders.

Davian Sim, Partner at August Global Partners, said for decades, clinicians treating aortic aneurysms and dissections have relied on materials repurposed from other procedures, never engineered for the job. Sim noted that Shape Memory Medical set out to change that with a shape memory polymer platform engineered for embolization, designed to work alongside the stent graft and address a clear unmet clinical need. Sim added that with AAA-SHAPE fully enrolled and FLAGSHIP advancing, the company is at an inflection point, and the data ahead will define it, and that August Global Partners looks forward to working with Ruppel and the team through these milestones and supporting the company’s growth in Asia-Pacific as the platform expands globally.

Shape Memory Medical has closed a $10 million convertible note financing led by August Global Partners, with participation from Taiwania Capital, to support clinical development of its aortic portfolio including the AAA-SHAPE Pivotal Trial and FLAGSHIP feasibility study.

[7,488,680,10
594
post-41432","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-americas","category-breaking-news","category-cardiovascular","category-strategic-development","tag-financing
["GET
