Hyus Meditec Completes Several Million USD Financing Round for Full-Chain Ultrasound Technology Platform
Hyus Meditec has announced the completion of a new financing round of several million USD led by Lotus Lake Capital. The proceeds will primarily accelerate market promotion of its intracardiac echocardiography products, clinical advancement of 4D-ICE, commercialization of ultrasound brain-computer interface product lines, mass production of its ultra-high resolution ultrasound photoacoustic imaging diagnostic and therapeutic system, and capacity expansion of its nanoliter acoustic liquid handling automation products.
Founded in 2020 and headquartered in Shenzhen city, South China, Hyus Meditec is a national high-tech enterprise incubated by the State Key Laboratory of Medical Imaging Science and Technology Systems at the Shenzhen Institute of Advanced Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences. Founder Dr. Qiu Weibao has nearly fifteen years of experience in advanced ultrasound technology research and development.
Hyus Meditec has built four core technology platforms with independent intellectual property: high-end ultrasound transducers, active interventional catheters, ultrasound imaging algorithms, and ultrasound system equipment. The company has achieved 100 percent independent research, development, and production of key transducers and active interventional catheters, establishing a fully equipped clean production facility. Research and development personnel account for over 50 percent of the workforce, with core R&D team members possessing extensive development experience.
A representative from Lotus Lake Capital noted that the Hyus team is extremely rare in China for its ability to master all key ultrasound technologies across the full chain, from transducers to algorithms and from catheters to system integration. The company’s forward-looking strategy in brain-computer interfaces is particularly noteworthy, with ultrasound brain functional imaging and neuromodulation technologies expected to open a billion-dollar brain science market.
In the intracardiac echocardiography field, Hyus has received Class III registration from China National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) for its globally first 80-element large-aperture ICE technology, which improves imaging resolution and contrast by over 25 percent compared to traditional products. The company’s products have entered clinical use in multiple tertiary hospitals. Its 4D-ICE has completed product development with full mastery of core technologies, positioning the company as a national leader in both 2D-ICE and 4D-ICE.
In ultrasound brain-computer interfaces, the company’s independently developed brain functional ultrasound imaging system has completed product development and begun sales, making Hyus the first company in China to commercialize this technology.
In ultra-high resolution ultrasound photoacoustic imaging, the company’s self-developed ultra-high frequency ultrasound transducer achieves 30 micrometer axial resolution, reaching the world’s top level in research ultrasound imaging.
In laboratory automation, the company’s non-contact acoustic liquid handling system has achieved productization and received broad recognition in drug screening and synthetic biology applications.
Hyus Meditec is gradually building a comprehensive ultrasound product ecosystem spanning from the heart to the brain, from clinical to laboratory, and from internal to external applications.
