Announced at RSNA 2025, the rollout brings the world\u2019s first real-time AI-enabled 3D visualization technology powered by light\u2014rather than continuous X-ray\u2014to a wider clinical audience. The company positions this expansion as part of its broader effort to improve radiation safety in interventional procedures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">LumiGuide is built on Philips\u2019 Fiber Optic RealShape technology, which uses light reflected through an optical fiber to generate real-time, full-color 3D views of guidewires and compatible catheters inside the body. This approach allows clinicians to navigate complex vasculature without relying on fluoroscopy. Philips reports that the technology can shorten aortic repair procedures and significantly reduce radiation exposure. Adam W. Beck, MD, of the University of Alabama at Birmingham, said, \u201cI have done over 160 fenestrated and branched aortic procedures with LumiGuide and have found that the system improves efficiency, reduces the procedure time, and reduces time on the fluoroscopy pedal to near zero.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Integrated directly into the company\u2019s Azurion image-guided therapy platform, LumiGuide adds to a growing set of AI-enabled tools designed to enhance real-time guidance and procedural workflow. Philips executives said the platform\u2019s global footprint and existing clinical adoption help support broader implementation. \u201cMoving LumiGuide from limited to full commercial availability is an important milestone in expanding access to advanced image-guided therapy,\u201d noted Stacey Beske, who leads Philips\u2019 Image-Guided Therapy Devices business. Atul Gupta, MD, Chief Medical Officer for Diagnosis &amp; Treatment, added that expanding access will help teams \u201ctreat complex vascular disease with precision and safety, while reducing radiation risk for patients and teams in the lab.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The system has already been used in more than 2,000 procedures since its limited release in 2023. Full commercial availability is expected to begin in January 2026 in key European markets and the United States. Philips plans to continue generating clinical evidence to support everyday use and refine its application across different vascular interventions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">LumiGuide also aligns with a broader Philips strategy focused on reducing radiation exposure through innovations such as ClarityIQ, DoseAware, and Echonavigator, as well as clinical studies like the RADIQAL trial.
