The device is indicated for use in key surgical specialties including colorectal, gynecological, thoracic, urological, and vascular procedures. The device is designed to be fully operable with one hand for most surgeons, freeing the other hand for other critical tasks during procedures.

The POWERSEAL Open Extended Jaw Sealer/Divider is indicated for sealing vessels up to and including 7mm in diameter, including pulmonary vessels, tissue bundles, and lymphatics, with a jaw coating designed to minimize tissue sticking. The jaw configuration supports effective dissection with a curved and tapered tip that facilitates access to and visualization of target tissue in tight spaces. The device features a proximally located rotation wheel supporting single-hand use with smooth frictionless rotation, requiring less squeeze force to close the jaws and actuate the cut blade.

The POWERSEAL Open Extended Jaw Sealer/Divider joins the POWERSEAL 5mm portfolio and is powered by the ESG-410 Surgical Energy Platform, which offers monopolar, standard bipolar, advanced bipolar, ultrasonic, and hybrid energy modes. The device is also compatible with the ESG-400 platform. Olympus will feature the device at several upcoming medical conferences including the IFSO World Congress, The Canadian Surgery Forum, the American College of Surgeons Clinical Congress 2026, and CanSAGE 2026. The device is intended for single use only and is not advised for re-sterilization. For complete indications, contraindications, warnings, and cautions, reference to the full Instructions for Use is recommended.

Dr. Karim Alavi, Director of the Colon and Rectal Surgery Fellowship at UMass Memorial Medical Center, said the benefits of the POWERSEAL Open Extended Jaw are immediately noticeable. Alavi noted that the heat spread around the jaws is minimal, which helps keep the energy focused within the tissue held in the jaws during activation, and that the instrument combines an ergonomic design that fits comfortably and naturally in the hand with good sealing and cutting performance.

Kanichi Matsumoto, Corporate Officer and Surgical Business Head at Olympus, said Olympus is excited to launch the latest addition to its POWERSEAL portfolio that delivers precision and efficiency during open procedures. Matsumoto noted that the POWERSEAL Open Extended Jaw Sealer/Divider was designed for ergonomic comfort and to minimize hand movement during procedures to allow surgeons to focus on their patients.

Olympus has announced the full commercial launch of the POWERSEAL Open Extended Jaw Sealer/Divider in the United States and Canada, a one-hand-operable surgical energy device indicated for sealing vessels up to 7mm in diameter across colorectal, gynecological, thoracic, urological, and vascular procedures.

[7,25,677
33
post-41497","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-americas","category-products-technologies","category-surgical","tag-olympus
["GET
