Philips to Invest Over USD 150M in U.S. Manufacturing and R&D Expansion

Royal Philips has announced plans to invest more than USD 150 million in U.S. manufacturing and research and development to advance its AI-enabled healthcare technologies. The initiative includes major expansions at the company’s Reedsville, Pennsylvania and Plymouth, Minnesota sites, aimed at increasing production capacity and supporting innovation for U.S. hospitals.

At Reedsville, which currently produces transducers for ultrasound systems, the expansion will add 24,000 square feet of manufacturing space and 40,000 square feet of warehouse facilities. The site will also begin customizing ultrasound software and configurations for specific cardiovascular, general, and maternal care applications. This development is expected to generate 120 skilled manufacturing jobs.

In Plymouth, Philips is enlarging its Image Guided Therapy facility and constructing a new medtech training center, a project set to create over 150 jobs. These initiatives build on the company’s annual USD 900 million R&D investment in the U.S. and its network of nearly 17,000 employees across 40 sites nationwide, serving 90% of U.S. hospitals.
