MMI Expands Asia Pacific Market for Symani® Surgical System with Two Partnerships

Italian surgical robotics company MMI (Medical Microinstruments, Inc.) will expand the Asia Pacific market for its Symani® Surgical System through two distribution agreements with Device Technologies and TRM Korea.

Australia-based Device Technologies will distribute the Symani® Surgical System to Hong Kong, Singapore, Vietnam, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Philippines, Macau and New Zealand, subject to regulatory approvals, as well as Australia, where it was recently approved by the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA). As part of its partnership with MMI, Device Technologies will open a new robotic microsurgery research and education center with a leading medical institution, providing the first site in Central Asia where interested surgeons can learn more about the system.

TRM Korea will bring the Symani® Surgical System to South Korea upon regulatory approval and will introduce microsurgical robotic technology to interested surgeons and hospitals. As the largest microsurgery company in South Korea, TRM is collaborating with a world-renowned medical institution to open its own education center where surgeons will have the opportunity to receive information sessions and hands-on training on the Symani® Surgical System.

The Symani® Surgical System is the first-of-its-kind robotic platform designed to provide enhanced precision and control, even in the smallest vessels, using sutures between 8-0 to 12-0, combining the world’s smallest wristed instruments with tremor-reducing and motion-scaling technologies to address the scale and complexity of microsurgery and supermicrosurgery.
