Owens & Minor Appoints Carrie Childress as First Chief Marketing Officer

Owens & Minor, a global healthcare solutions company providing essential products, services, and technology solutions that support care delivery in leading hospitals, health systems, and research centers worldwide, has named Carrie Childress as Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer, effective immediately. In this newly created role, Childress becomes the first dedicated marketing executive in the company’s more than 140-year history and will lead efforts to further strengthen the Owens & Minor brand and product portfolios.
Childress joins Owens & Minor with nearly 20 years of experience leading U.S. and global healthcare marketing, product management, and brand development. Most recently, Childress served as Vice President of Americas Marketing at Cordis, where she was instrumental in developing and launching large-scale marketing initiatives that resulted in sustained growth. Over the course of her career, including roles at Smith+Nephew, ConMed, and AcuityMD, Childress has built high-performing teams and led commercialization strategies that differentiated healthcare companies and bolstered their market position.
On December 31, 2025, Owens & Minor announced a new chapter in its history, with its medical distribution, products, and technology services business, formerly referred to as Products and Healthcare Services, now part of the Platinum Equity portfolio. The company continues to operate as a private stand-alone company under the Owens & Minor name.
Carrie Childress said Owens & Minor is one of the rare organizations that combines legacy, leadership, and customer loyalty with a genuine passion for impact. Childress noted that she is excited to join Team Owens & Minor to build on that strong foundation as the company shapes what is next for its customers and the company.
Jim Marshall, Chief Executive Officer of Owens & Minor, said the company’s name is one of the most recognized in healthcare, and its continued success depends on building on what makes Owens & Minor great while evolving to better serve customers. Marshall noted that Childress’ strategic vision, portfolio commercialization expertise, and track record of building high-performing teams will add valuable perspective and capabilities to the leadership team as the company continues to reimagine its legacy for the hospitals, healthcare partners, and communities it serves.
