Precision Neuroscience Closes Oversubscribed $250 Million Series D for Brain-Computer Interface Expansion

Precision Neuroscience, a brain-computer interface (BCI) technology company, has announced the closing of an oversubscribed $250 million Series D financing round co-led by Pershing Square Inc., the Ackman Oxman Institute, and an undisclosed leading life sciences investment fund. Additional participants include the Duquesne Family Office, B Capital, ARK Invest, Invus, Mubadala Capital, Mirae Asset Capital, Korea Investment Partners, Hitachi Ventures, JSL Health Capital, and others.
The breadth of the financing group, spanning sovereign wealth funds, venture capital, public-market investors, and prominent family offices, reflects growing investor conviction that BCI is one of the most consequential emerging categories in healthcare and technology. Since its founding in 2021, Precision has raised $430 million and built the largest clinical footprint in BCI, with more than 100 patient procedures across 18 medical institutions, FDA clearance for its Layer 7 cortical interface, a commercial partnership with Medtronic, and a wholly owned MEMS manufacturing facility in Texas.
Precision will use the funding to expand its clinical program, advance Layer 7 through the next stages of FDA review, and build the infrastructure needed for commercialization. The financing follows a series of milestones across clinical care, regulatory progress, research, and manufacturing. The company has completed more than 100 patient procedures, established the largest clinical network in BCI spanning 18 major medical institutions including the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania, University of Chicago Medicine, Mount Sinai Health System, and West Virginia University’s Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute, received FDA clearance for the Layer 7 Cortical Interface, demonstrated advanced BCI performance including high-resolution neural recording across 4,096 electrodes and real-time decoding of intended movement, and formed an industry-first partnership with Medtronic to integrate its technology with an established neurosurgical platform. Precision has also validated Layer 7 performance through peer-reviewed research, including a study published in Nature Biomedical Engineering, enabled new neuroscience at partner institutions, built end-to-end control of its electrode arrays through its MEMS manufacturing facility, and added Dr. John Donoghue, founder of BrainGate and a 2026 Queen Elizabeth Prize for Engineering laureate, as a Scientific Advisor.
Michael Mager, co-founder and CEO of Precision, said the next phase of BCI will be defined by more than technology alone. Mager noted that the company has built the clinical network, regulatory position, and manufacturing base that leadership in this field requires, and that it is putting safety at the center of product design, forming deep partnerships with leading neurosurgeons and academic medical centers, and building a company and culture intended to endure.
Bill Ackman, CEO of Pershing Square and co-founder of the Ackman Oxman Institute, said the brain can recover from even catastrophic injury, and there is far more that can be done for people living with neurological injuries. Ackman noted that neurotechnology will be central to the next generation of cures, treatments, and rehabilitation, and will produce some of the most important and valuable companies of our time, adding that Precision has the team, technology, and ambition to be a leader in BCI.
