Salvia BioElectronics, an Eindhoven-based clinical-stage medical device company specializing in neuromodulation for chronic migraine, has closed a $60 million (€53 million) oversubscribed Series B financing round led by Innovation Industries, with participation from Invest-NL, EIC Fund, and existing investors including Inkef, Panakès Partners, and SHS Capital. The funding will support the completion of clinical trials, including the ongoing RECLAIM study—a multi-center, double-blind, sham-controlled trial—as well as preparations for regulatory approvals and commercial launch in the U.S., Europe, and Australia. MySalvia Therapy, Salvia’s ultra-thin, minimally invasive implant, targets key migraine-related nerves to reduce attack frequency and intensity, offering a potential breakthrough for patients unresponsive to existing treatments.

Chronic migraine is a debilitating neurological disorder affecting millions worldwide, with current therapies often proving inadequate—leading to high patient dropout rates within the first year of treatment. Salvia’s FDA-designated Breakthrough Device aims to fill this gap by providing a patient-controlled, on-demand solution. The implant, paired with an external wearable, allows users to deliver targeted stimulation as needed, minimizing surgical complexity and recovery time. Early clinical data suggests significant reductions in migraine severity, positioning MySalvia Therapy as a promising alternative in a market burdened by $110 billion annually in lost productivity and medical costs across the EU and U.S.

With backing from a strong investor syndicate, Salvia is poised to redefine migraine care through its patient-centric approach. CEO Hubert Martens emphasized the therapy’s potential to restore the quality of life for chronic migraine sufferers, while Innovation Industries’ Caaj Greebe highlighted Salvia’s innovative technology as a solution to a pressing global health challenge. Beyond migraine, the company is exploring applications for cluster headache, further expanding its impact in neurological therapeutics.
