Siemens Healthineers Starts Production of ACUSON Juniper S Ultrasound System in Shanghai

Siemens Healthineers has started production of the mid-to-high-end ACUSON Juniper S (Chinese: 银杜松) ultrasound system at its R&D and production base in Shanghai, following the successful production of its flagship ultrasound system, the ACUSON Sequoia Silver (Chinese: 银杉), in Shanghai since January 2022.

It marks another achievement in the company’s National Intelligence Innovation (Chinese: 国智创新) strategy.

The ACUSON Juniper S ultrasound system combines the expertise of the ACUSON family with advanced German technology and local innovation. It inherits high-end biosound platform technology and utilizes AI to optimize images and workflows for a range of clinical needs, including physical examinations, emergency care, pediatrics, obstetrics, and gynecology. By offering these features, the system helps Siemens Healthineers to fill the gap in the domestic ultrasound product line.

Ajay Gannerkote, President of Global Ultrasound Business at Siemens Healthineers, witnessed the historic moment of the first ACUSON Juniper S coming off the production line. “China is an important market for Siemens Healthineers, and we have been committed to promoting China market development for many years. We have always adhered to the localization strategy of ‘In China, for China,’ and fully participated in the local medical system construction, helping local R&D and production, and thus benefiting more patients.”

Siemens Healthineers China has released a new “national intelligence innovation” localization strategy in June 2022, which will deeply participate in the construction of “Healthy China” through three dimensions: “promoting the realization of the full product line localization,” “further deepening innovative R&D based on the needs of the Chinese market,” and “promoting local business model upgrades.”
