The 93rd China International Medical Equipment Fair (CMEF) officially opened today at the National Exhibition and Convention Center in Shanghai, running through April 12. Under the theme “Innovation Fusion, Boundless Evolution,” this year’s event spans more than 320,000 square meters and brings together nearly 5,000 brands and companies from over 20 countries and regions. Organizers expect to welcome more than 200,000 professional visitors and buyers from 150 countries and regions, reinforcing CMEF’s position as the largest global medical device industry chain exhibition.

Global and China premieres are a major highlight of this year’s fair. The world‘s first approved invasive brain-computer interface medical device made its official debut, signaling a substantive leap from laboratory research to clinical application. In diagnostic imaging, exhibitors showcased intelligent ultrasound systems with integrated native AI, the world’s first dual-wide-body dual-source CT scanner, and next-generation photon-counting CT systems. The event also features an International Zone with exhibitors from more than 20 countries and regions, including Germany, the United States, South Korea, Japan, the United Kingdom, France, Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand, displaying the latest global innovations.

Beyond product showcases, CMEF has launched an upgraded series of international brand activities. The “WeTalk Stage” will feature representatives from foreign consulates, leading industry associations, and multinational corporations. The “WeMatch Hub” is designed to enable targeted matchmaking based on verified buyer demand, while the “International WeTour” offers customized tours to help international visitors explore exhibitor offerings. During the fair, CMEF is also partnering with the international departments of several leading hospitals to provide tailored medical services and comprehensive healthcare support for global attendees.

Hundreds of forums are scheduled throughout the event, bringing together global experts and industry leaders to discuss the evolving healthcare landscape. The Global Harmonization Working Party and the Ministry of Health of Malaysia will co-host a series of high-level events, including the 3rd Global Harmonization Working Party (GHWP) Innovative Medical Device Seminar and the ASEAN Forum on Medical Device Innovation and Collaboration. These on-site sessions aim to deliver targeted insights into regulatory policies and market access opportunities across key global markets, supporting the convergence of international medical device regulatory frameworks and facilitating more efficient global trade.
