Vietnamese Expert Team Completes Training on China-Made 5.0T MRI at Ruijin Hospital

A team of imaging experts from Hanoi Medical University Hospital in Vietnam has completed a three-week specialized training program on 5.0T MRI at Ruijin Hospital, focusing on neuroimaging, abdominal and oncological imaging, and cardiovascular imaging. From theoretical lectures to hands-on scanner operation, and from case reviews to report writing, the Vietnamese team gained direct experience with the clinical and research capabilities of China-made high-end medical imaging equipment. The training represents the first major collaboration following a research memorandum of understanding signed on May 11, 2026, under which both parties agreed to establish long-term cooperation in clinical applications, joint research, cross-border academic exchange, and talent development.
Hanoi Medical University Hospital is the first major teaching hospital in Vietnam to install United Imaging‘s uMR Jupiter 5.0T whole-body MRI system. After installation, the Vietnamese team focused on how to maximize the system’s value in precision diagnosis, complex disease assessment, and research innovation. Ruijin Hospital, with its extensive experience in ultra-high-field MRI clinical translation, sequence development, and AI-assisted imaging, became a key destination for the Vietnamese experts’ training. During the program, a dedicated teaching team from Ruijin Hospital’s radiology department provided one-on-one guidance tailored to the Vietnamese experts’ research directions and clinical needs. The Vietnamese experts noted that the training helped them understand key workflows from field quality control and scan parameter optimization to image post-processing and specialized diagnosis.
Building on the training, both sides are extending their collaboration. At the closing symposium, the Chinese and Vietnamese teams initiated plans for multicenter 5.0T imaging comparative studies focusing on cerebrovascular diseases, hepatobiliary tumors, and congenital heart disease, which are prevalent in Southeast Asia. The Vietnamese side has invited Ruijin Hospital imaging experts to visit Hanoi for on-site guidance and specialized lectures. Both parties also plan to establish long-term talent development mechanisms through batch training programs, online case discussions, and remote technical consultations.
Chen Haitao, Director of the Advanced Medical Imaging Research Institute, emphasized that the 5.0T MRI connects not only equipment and technology but also clinical experience, research capabilities, and medical talent. Yan Fuhua, Director of Ruijin Hospital’s Radiology Department, said that both sides will continue to deepen collaboration in AI-assisted imaging analysis, quantitative biomarker development, and regional academic forums, leveraging cross-border clinical research and talent development mechanisms to advance precision diagnosis of complex diseases and bring China’s high-quality medical technology to Southeast Asia.
