The round, led by Ventura Capital and supported by Aviva Ventures, Horizons Ventures, and other existing backers, including the Gates Foundation, aims to accelerate the development and commercialization of breath-based diagnostics.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The investment will fund the advancement of Owlstone\u2019s Breath Biopsy\u00ae platform, supporting ongoing in-human clinical trials for early detection of lung cancer, a disease responsible for 1.8 million deaths annually. Additionally, the funds will drive the development and launch of the LIBRA\u00ae test for diagnosing chronic liver diseases, which claim over 2 million lives each year, and the commercial rollout of the OMED Health\u00ae Breath Analyzer. This handheld device is designed for cost-effective diagnosis and monitoring of digestive diseases, impacting around 1 billion people worldwide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Mo El Husseiny of Ventura Capital praised Owlstone\u2019s leading role in the breath-based diagnostics field, noting its strategic partnerships with significant institutions like the U.S. Department of Defense and the FDA. Tom Grant from Aviva Investors highlighted Owlstone&#8217;s progress, including its proprietary platforms and the commercial introduction of products in the US and UK markets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Billy Boyle, co-founder and CEO of Owlstone Medical, expressed gratitude for the ongoing investor support which enables further clinical trials and the commercialization of their innovative diagnostic solutions.
