美敦力 has appointed John Groetelaars and Bill Jellison as independent directors to its Board, strengthening governance as the company accelerates execution of its strategic priorities. Alongside these appointments, Medtronic has created two new committees aimed at advancing portfolio management, operational performance, and capital allocation.

The Growth Committee will oversee tuck-in acquisitions, organic R&D, and potential divestitures, including the planned separation of Medtronic’s Diabetes business. The Operating Committee will focus on optimizing global operations, supply chain, and manufacturing to expand margins and deliver sustained earnings growth. CEO and Chairman Geoff Martha will chair both committees, with Groetelaars and Jellison serving as members.

Martha welcomed the appointments, highlighting Groetelaars’ global leadership background and Jellison’s financial expertise as valuable assets. He noted that Medtronic is at an “inflection point” with multiple growth drivers and upcoming product launches that will shape its next phase.

The initiatives follow engagement with Elliott Investment Management, one of Medtronic’s largest investors. Both sides underscored the company’s opportunities in innovation, portfolio simplification, and operational improvements as catalysts for long-term shareholder value. Medtronic also announced it will host an Investor Day in mid-2026 to outline strategic priorities and financial goals.

Groetelaars, a former CEO of Hillrom and interim CEO of Dentsply Sirona, brings over three decades of medical device leadership. Jellison, former CFO of Stryker and Dentsply International, adds deep financial and industry experience. Both will stand for election at Medtronic’s 2025 Annual General Meeting.
