Twin Health, a California-based company developing AI-driven digital twins for metabolic health, announced a $53 million funding round led by Denmark’s Maj Invest. The investment will accelerate the company’s expansion among health plans and large employers across multiple industries, including healthcare, retail, technology, and financial services.

The funding coincides with the publication of a study in the New England Journal of Medicine Catalyst highlighting Twin’s effectiveness in managing diabetes and obesity without reliance on costly medications such as GLP-1s.

Twin’s platform creates a real-time AI digital twin for each member, drawing on thousands of biomarkers, lifestyle data, and personal health metrics. This model provides individualized guidance across nutrition, sleep, and activity, aiming to improve or reverse chronic metabolic conditions. Unlike episodic care models, Twin delivers continuous 24/7 support through both digital tools and human-led clinical care teams.

Founder and CEO Jahangir Mohammed said, “We focus on addressing the root causes of metabolic disease. By using their own biomarker data, members receive personalized, sustainable guidance that supports long-term health outcomes.”

The company operates on a performance-based pricing model, with employers and health plans paying only when members achieve measurable outcomes such as reduced A1C, weight loss, or reduced medication use. With retention above 90% and minimal member churn, Twin has demonstrated strong adoption and engagement.

As GLP-1 prescriptions surge, Twin positions itself as a partner for health plans seeking responsible, evidence-based strategies. Its model supports appropriate short-term use of medications while providing an off-ramp for sustainable, medication-free outcomes.
