ShiraTronics, a Minneapolis, MN-based pioneering medical device company developing neurostimulation therapies for chronic migraines, has raised $66 million in an oversubscribed Series B round. Led by Norwest Venture Partners and joined by Seroba, OSF Ventures, and other investors, this funding will accelerate ShiraTronics’ pivotal trial for its Migraine Therapy System, a minimally invasive implant designed to help patients resistant to current migraine treatments.

Chronic migraine affects millions worldwide, and existing therapies often fall short, leaving patients to endure debilitating symptoms. ShiraTronics’ device delivers electrical pulses to targeted nerves in the head, aiming to reduce migraine frequency and severity. “Our pilot study shows great potential for improving patients’ quality of life,” said Rob Binney, CEO of ShiraTronics. The funds will also support the company’s efforts to seek FDA premarket approval and the subsequent commercial launch.

Dr. Zack Scott, general partner at Norwest Venture Partners, added, “ShiraTronics offers new hope to millions of chronic migraine sufferers with a technology designed to revolutionize treatment outcomes and enhance patient care.” Co-founder and Chairman Mudit K. Jain, Ph.D., highlighted the team’s success, noting the system’s Breakthrough Device designation from the FDA in 2021.
