Suzhou, China-based TrendTec New Materials (宸泰新材) recently announced the successful completion of two financing rounds. This includes an equity investment of over RMB 100 million (approximately $14 million) led by Vivo Capital (维梧资本) and followed by China Capital Investment Group (CCIG, 中金资本) last December, and a recent investment of tens of millions of RMB (several million USD) from Proxima Ventures (比邻星创投) and Zhongxin Capital (中鑫资本). The funds will be used to establish new production lines, continue product development, and supply high-performance biomedical ceramic materials and components to medical device companies both domestically and internationally.

Founded in 2020, TrendTec New Materials specializes in the research, development, and sales of high-end implant and interventional medical devices, particularly hip joint ceramic materials. The company was co-founded by Dr. Zhang Lin (张琳) and Dr. Cao Xiaogang (曹小刚), who, along with their team, are materials science experts with over 30 years of experience. The company’s self-developed “Zirconia Toughened Alumina (ZTA) Ceramics” have gained wide market recognition and have completed the development and production of ceramic femoral heads and liners, with official documentation registered with China’s NMPA.

With the growing number of joint disease patients in China, the annual volume of hip joint surgeries has exceeded 700,000. However, the implantation rate in China remains less than one-third that of the United States, a figure expected to rise as the population ages. Due to a fully domestic production process, TrendTec New Materials can offer its products at less than half the price of comparable foreign products, providing significant cost advantages and more cost-effective materials to manufacturers globally.

Dr. Zhang Lin, founder of TrendTec New Materials, commented, “TrendTec New Materials is dedicated to providing more competitive upstream medical ceramic materials. Our products have been well-received in the market, meeting or even surpassing international standards. We are immensely grateful for the continued recognition and support from our shareholders. We remain committed to vigorously enhancing our production system and advancing China’s high-performance composite ceramic industry.”
