MMT Strengthens Bonding Portfolio with Acquisition of Innova Design

Medical Manufacturing Technologies (MMT), backed by Arcline Investment Management, has acquired Innova Design, a pioneer in catheter laser bonding technology. The move expands MMT’s bonding solutions portfolio, which already includes hot box and split die systems.
Innova introduced the first commercial catheter laser bonder in 2002 and now markets its sixth-generation systems. Its technology has been central to manufacturing millions of balloon catheters used worldwide. With customers across the U.S., Europe, Asia, and Latin America, Innova has established itself as a trusted partner for global device manufacturers.
MMT CEO Robbie Atkinson said the acquisition builds on the company’s strategy to deliver advanced, reliable solutions for medical device production. Innova’s laser systems are recognized for their ergonomic design and safety features, including motorized safety doors, integrated cooling, beam shutters, and multiple holding configurations.
Innova founder Adam Chen welcomed the deal, noting that MMT’s scale and resources will accelerate the adoption of advanced bonding solutions and enhance productivity for manufacturers.
The acquisition further broadens MMT’s portfolio of specialist companies, which provide engineering and manufacturing technologies to leading medical device and industrial customers worldwide.
