Olympus Expands Access to iTind™ Device for Minimally Invasive BPH Treatment Across APAC

Olympus Corporation of Asia Pacific Limited (Olympus APAC) has announced a significant milestone with the expanded availability of its iTind™ device across major markets in the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region. This move aligns with Olympus’ commitment to improving health and quality of life through innovative medical solutions.
The iTind procedure is a minimally invasive treatment for benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), commonly known as an enlarged prostate. Already available in the United States and Europe, the device will soon launch in Korea, bringing the total number of APAC markets with access to iTind to six.

BPH symptoms, such as frequent urination, weak urinary streams, and nighttime urination, can significantly impact quality of life. The iTind device provides a patient-focused solution, reshaping the prostatic urethra without the need for medications, permanent implants, or tissue removal.
To support the rollout, Olympus has developed a comprehensive training program for physicians, ensuring successful integration of the iTind procedure into clinical practice.
The iTind device has gained recognition for its innovative approach to BPH treatment. In September 2023, it was included in the American Urological Association (AUA) clinical practice guidelines for managing lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) related to BPH. Additionally, new Category I CPT codes for the iTind procedure took effect in the U.S. on January 1, 2025, facilitating billing across all healthcare settings.
