Surgical Automations Raises $3.4M Seed Funding to Advance AI-Powered Robotic Endoscopy

Dallas-based Surgical Automations, a stealth-mode surgical robotics company focused on automating gastrointestinal (GI) endoscopy, has closed an oversubscribed $3.4 million seed funding round completed earlier this year. The investment was co-led by Dr. Fred Moll, founder of Intuitive Surgical, and Bengaluru-based venture capital firm TurboStart.

The company is developing the Vāsuki Robotic System, a next-generation platform for diagnostic and interventional GI procedures. By combining robotics, advanced sensing, and AI-driven automated navigation, the system aims to automate key steps in procedures such as colonoscopy, offering enhanced precision and control for clinicians. Surgical Automations’ broader goal is to simplify complex endoscopic workflows while improving safety and consistency in GI screening and treatment.

“Surgical robotics is entering a new era where automation and intelligence are poised to transform clinical care,” said Dr. Moll. “Surgical Automations is pursuing one of the most important opportunities in endoscopy, combining bold innovation with the pragmatism needed to bring meaningful change to patient care.”

Ganesh Raju, founder of TurboStart, added that the company’s approach addresses a significant gap in colorectal cancer screening. “Colorectal cancer is the second leading cause of cancer deaths, yet the screening experience remains painful, inconsistent, and underserved by technology,” he said. “We backed Surgical Automations because they’re re-imagining this from first principles with the right blend of AI, robotics, and regulatory clarity.”

The funding round also included participation from physicians and members of professional and cultural organizations such as the Rajput Association of North America, the IIT Alumni Association of North Texas, and the Maharana Association of North America. Dr. Srinivas “Benne” Bette of the IIT Entrepreneur Advisor Network noted that the company “exemplifies the kind of global, deep-technology innovation that advances human health while being headquartered in North Texas.”

Surgical Automations continues to operate in stealth as it progresses the Vāsuki Robotic System toward pre-clinical validation and first-in-human studies.
