Royal Philips has launched IntraSight Plus, a next-generation interventional cardiology platform cleared for clinical use in the United States and Europe. The system combines diagnostic and treatment planning tools in a single interface, allowing clinicians to plan, guide, and verify percutaneous coronary interventions (PCI) efficiently. With FDA 510(k) clearance and CE marking, the platform is designed to support faster decision-making and improved patient outcomes.

IntraSight Plus integrates intravascular ultrasound (IVUS), physiological assessment, and angiography, addressing challenges in traditional PCI workflows where multiple systems are often used separately. Philips states that the platform can reduce system operation time by up to 47% by providing comprehensive procedural control at the bedside.

“Modern PCI is becoming increasingly complex,” said Prof. Dr. Jan-Malte Sinning, who performed the first patient procedure with IntraSight Plus at Cellitinnen-Krankenhaus St. Vinzenz in Cologne, Germany. “The platform is designed around how we actually work in the cath lab, combining imaging, physiology, and decision support naturally into the workflow.”

IntraSight Plus merges Philips’ IntraSight and SyncVision technologies, offering tri-registration of angiography, IVUS, and instantaneous wave-free ratio/fractional flow reserve (iFR/FFR) data. This integration enables precise visualization of plaque morphology and ischemic impact, facilitates stent planning and placement, and streamlines communication across the interventional suite.
