Rapid Medical Reaches 1,000 North American Cases With DRIVEWIRE 24, Gains European MDR Approval

Rapid Medical announced that its DRIVEWIRE 24 steerable guidewire has been used in more than 1,000 procedures in North America since its limited launch earlier this year. The company also confirmed it has received CE Mark approval under the European Medical Device Regulation, enabling broader use across Europe.

The DRIVEWIRE 24 is the first steerable 0.024-inch guidewire designed for neurovascular applications, offering real-time tip control to navigate complex anatomy in ischemic stroke, aneurysms, and other interventions. By reducing reliance on multiple wire exchanges and improving catheter support, the device aims to enhance access speed and reliability.

Data from 176 procedures in a multicenter analysis showed a 94% success rate in reaching target sites with no device-related complications. Clinicians in Europe, preparing for adoption, have highlighted the potential to shorten procedure times and expand access to distal vessels.

With approvals in both North America and Europe, Rapid Medical is advancing its position in the neurovascular device market, where demand for precise and efficient access technologies continues to grow.
