EchoNous Expands Kosmos Ultrasound Platform with OB/GYN and Vascular Capabilities

EchoNous has expanded its Kosmos ultrasound platform with new obstetric, gynecologic (OB/GYN), and vascular capabilities designed to extend advanced diagnostics to point-of-care settings. The update adds FDA-cleared presets and reporting tools that support more comprehensive exams in emergency departments, labor and delivery units, and resource-limited environments.
The company said the expansion aims to narrow the gap between handheld systems and traditional cart-based ultrasound machines. With the latest software release, clinicians can perform detailed measurements and complete billable studies directly at the bedside. The new obstetrics package supports full biometry, including gestational sac, crown-rump length, and femur length measurements, enabling pregnancy dating and fetal viability assessments.
For gynecologic imaging, the platform now includes tools to evaluate the uterus and ovaries, with measurement capabilities for cysts, masses, and bladder volume. EchoNous has also introduced a vascular workflow package covering carotid, lower extremity venous, and aorta exams. The update includes a structured reporting system intended to support physician-ordered, billable studies in mobile imaging settings.
“With this expansion, Kosmos is now more capable than ever, bridging the gap between ultra-portable tools and the robust requirements of specialists,” said Matt Wall, VP of Global Marketing at EchoNous. “Whether it is a midwife in a rural clinic needing accurate pregnancy dating or a mobile sonographer performing a full vascular study on the go, we are delivering the specific tools these clinicians need to do their jobs effectively.”
In addition to new clinical presets, EchoNous has incorporated vascular annotations and measurements into DICOM Structured Reporting to streamline documentation. The updated software, iOS 5.0, is available for download through the Apple App Store.
