Interventional Systems, the Tyrol, Austria-based developer of miniature medical robotics, has entered a co-marketing partnership with Siemens Healthineers to promote robot-assisted percutaneous procedures in Siemens’ angiography suites. The collaboration combines Interventional Systems’ Micromate™ robotic platform, designed for submillimeter-accurate 2D and 3D image-guided needle-based interventions, with Siemens’ ARTIS systems, which provide high-resolution real-time imaging. Together, the technologies aim to improve procedural precision, reduce radiation exposure, and accelerate intervention times for clinicians.

Micromate™ is cleared for a broad range of image-guided procedures and allows operators to perform delicate interventions with enhanced dexterity and control. By integrating with Siemens’ angiography platforms, the system supports interventional radiologists in achieving consistent outcomes, minimizing procedural risks, and streamlining workflow. This combination enables clinicians to perform complex procedures more confidently, potentially improving patient safety and operational efficiency in catheterization and image-guided therapy settings.

Pedro Costa, Chief Strategy Officer of Interventional Systems, emphasized the potential benefits of performing interventions directly within the angiography suite. He noted that the partnership provides hospitals with an integrated solution that enhances both precision and efficiency, helping to expand access to advanced minimally invasive procedures.

Dr. Jayant Saha, Head of Global Business Development for Interventional Radiology at Siemens Healthineers, highlighted that the collaboration supports repeatable performance and procedural reliability. He added that the integrated robotic and imaging solution could shorten procedure times, reduce radiation exposure for both patients and operating room staff, and elevate overall quality of care.
