Qaelon Medical Forms Scientific Advisory Board, Appoints Mayo Clinic’s Dr. Andrew Storm
Qaelon Medical, a developer of advanced leak detection and insufflation technology for minimally invasive procedures, has formed a Scientific Advisory Board (SAB) to guide clinical and product development. The company’s first appointee is Dr. Andrew Storm, Chair of Endoscopy at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN.
Dr. Storm is recognized for his leadership in therapeutic endoscopy, robotics, and device innovation. At Mayo, he co-directs the Developmental Endoscopy Unit and chairs the Association for Bariatric Endoscopy. He has been at the forefront of novel procedures such as endoscopic submucosal dissection, endobariatric surgery, ultrasound-guided gastrointestinal anastomosis, and full-thickness resection.
Qaelon’s AI-assisted platform is designed to provide real-time detection of leaks and perforations during endoluminal and robotic procedures, combined with precision constant-flow insufflation. The system aims to address complications that increase risks of sepsis, reoperations, and hospital strain.
Dr. Storm emphasized the importance of solving unmet needs in endoscopy. “Fear of leaks and perforations, alongside limitations in existing technologies, has slowed adoption of advanced procedures,” he said. “Qaelon’s platform offers the real-time data endoscopists need to improve safety and confidence.”
Additional members of the SAB will be announced in the coming weeks as Qaelon prepares to accelerate clinical trials and move its system toward market readiness.
