GE HealthCare Launches First CT Scanner Production Line in France, Installing Debut Unit at Montargis Hospital
GE HealthCare officially launched its inaugural medical scanner production line at its Buc facility in Yvelines, France, on October 1, 2024. This strategic move strengthens the company’s commitment to “In Europe for Europe” manufacturing, ensuring better service and quicker response times for European customers. The first scanner assembled at this facility, the Revolution Maxima CT scanner, has been installed at the emergency department of the Montargis Hospital Center (CHAM) in Loiret, signaling a significant step towards sustainable healthcare solutions.
The Revolution Maxima scanner, known for providing high-quality 3D imaging of organs and tissues, is essential for diagnosing a range of pathologies rapidly and non-invasively. By assembling these scanners in France, GE HealthCare reduces logistical complexities and carbon emissions, achieving an 84% reduction in transportation-related emissions through the use of localized shipping options, including train and ground delivery.
“Adapting our supply chain with local production enables us to respond more effectively to healthcare needs while minimizing environmental impact,” said Jean-Philippe Bousquel, General Manager, Imaging, International at GE HealthCare. “France plays a key role in our growth, thanks to our partnerships with research centers, clinicians, and SMEs, and we are proud to expand our footprint in Buc.” The CHAM emergency department, which handles over 60,000 patient visits annually, has deployed the newly installed Revolution Maxima CT scanner to enhance diagnostic speed. With 40% of emergency cases requiring imaging, this scanner will improve patient management, ensuring faster, more precise care. “The emergency room is a vital part of our healthcare system, and having cutting-edge diagnostic tools allows us to provide the best possible care,” said Jean-Luc Davigo, CEO of CHAM.
