Galvanize Therapeutics has raised $100 million in an oversubscribed Series C financing round led by Sofinnova Partners, with participation from a global group of healthcare investors. Existing backers including Fidelity, T. Rowe Price, Intuitive Surgical, and Apple Tree Partners also joined the round.

The funding will support clinical and commercial development of the company’s pulsed electric field (PEF) platform, including the Aliya system for solid tumors and the RheOx therapy for chronic bronchitis, a major cause of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). PEF technology delivers short, non-thermal electrical pulses that disrupt pathological cellular activity without relying on drugs or heat.

Concurrent with the financing, Doug Godshall, formerly CEO of Shockwave Medical, has been appointed Chairman and CEO, while Jonathan Waldstreicher will serve as President and Chief Strategy Officer. New board members include representatives from Sofinnova Partners, Norwest, and Gilmartin Capital.

The company, founded in Redwood City, California, intends to expand its commercial presence and continue advancing trials as it positions its therapies to address unmet needs in oncology and respiratory disease.
