The portable system now supports neonatal, pediatric, and geriatric patients with new transducer compatibility (including X7-2t/X8-2t TEE for complex interventions) and AI-driven Auto Measure, which reduces routine scan times by 50% while improving measurement consistency. “This system combines mobility with premium capabilities,” said David Handler, Philips’ Cardiology Ultrasound Business Leader, highlighting its role in addressing staff shortages and rising patient volumes.

The 5500CV integrates with Philips’ EPIQ and Affiniti platforms, enabling seamless workflows and real-time collaboration via Collaboration Live for remote training and diagnostics. Advanced features like xPlane Imaging capture dual cross-sectional views in one probe pass, while the S12-4 transducer extends use to neonatal head exams. Its shared architecture cuts sonographer training time, and Ultrasound Workspace ensures vendor-neutral analysis.

Annually, Philips ultrasound systems support 429 million cardiology procedures worldwide. The upgrades to the 5500CV reinforce Philips’ leadership in AI-enabled cardiac imaging, joining a portfolio that ranges from the handheld Lumify to the premium EPIQ systems.
