Philips Unveils Automatic CT-to-C-arm Synchronization for Cath Lab Integration at TCT 2025

Philips has announced an industry-first integration that brings pre-operative CT data directly into the cath lab environment by synchronizing it with real-time C-arm angulation. The advancement, introduced at the annual Transcatheter Cardiovascular Therapeutics (TCT 2025) meeting taking place Oct. 25-28 in San Francisco, CA, connects the company’s Advanced Visualization Workspace with the Azurion image-guided therapy platform and represents an early step toward CT-guided percutaneous coronary intervention.

The new feature, called Follow C-arm, allows reconstructed CT images of the coronary arteries to rotate automatically in parallel with the C-arm during a procedure. By removing the need for manual image manipulation, the tool provides interventional cardiologists with continuous 3D anatomical context while maintaining the flexibility of live X-ray guidance. Early clinical reports indicate that the use of coronary CT angiography in interventional planning may reduce contrast load and radiation exposure.

As coronary CT angiography becomes more widely adopted as a front-line diagnostic tool, operators are increasingly looking for ways to incorporate those scans into procedural guidance. Philips’ integration enables CT images acquired during diagnosis to support the intervention itself, reflecting a shift toward greater use of CT throughout the treatment pathway, not only during planning.

The launch builds on the installed base of the Azurion therapy platform, which is used globally for image-guided cardiovascular and structural heart procedures. The company expects the synchronized visualization capability to lay the groundwork for broader adoption of CT-guided PCI as workflows continue to evolve.
