GE HealthCare and UC San Diego Health Form 14-Year Alliance to Advance Imaging and Digital Care
GE HealthCare and UC San Diego Health have announced a 14-year strategic enterprise collaboration designed to enhance medical imaging capabilities, integrate digital innovations, and streamline healthcare delivery across the San Diego health system. The agreement focuses on deploying advanced imaging technologies and AI-powered tools to help improve diagnostic accuracy, reduce wait times, and optimize clinical workflows.
According to Catherine Estrampes, president and CEO of GE HealthCare for the U.S. and Canada, the partnership was developed around a value-based care model intended to deliver measurable improvements in patient outcomes. “This Care Alliance was designed to standardize future-focused technology with the goal of measurable improvements in patient outcomes,” she said, emphasizing the collaboration’s focus on efficiency and accessibility.
The alliance will incorporate GE HealthCare’s portfolio of imaging modalities, including X-ray, CT, PET/CT, PET/MR, SPECT/CT, MRI, image-guided systems, and nuclear medicine, integrated with AI-driven digital solutions. These systems aim to enhance the speed and accuracy of diagnostics while supporting theranostic approaches that combine imaging and therapy—particularly in cancer care, where early detection and personalized treatment are crucial.
Through this collaboration, both organizations will develop programs to optimize equipment performance and clinician training. GE HealthCare will provide service line support, advanced technical education, and a tailored maintenance program to reduce downtime and complexity across connected imaging systems. The partnership also includes solutions such as the StarGuide™ SPECT/CT system, Smart Subscription for CT, and the SIGNA Continuum™ program for MRI, all designed to ensure continuous innovation and system optimization throughout the 14-year period.
