Neusoft Medical Gains NMPA Approval for China’s First Photon-Counting CT

Shenyang-based Neusoft Medical has received regulatory approval for its NeuViz P10 photon-counting CT (PCCT), the first of its kind cleared in China.

The NeuViz P10, approved by China’s National Medical Products Administration (NMPA), is also the world’s first wide-body photon-counting CT equipped with an 8-centimeter detector. Unlike conventional CT scanners, which convert X-rays into light before producing images, the system’s cadmium zinc telluride detector directly transforms photons into digital signals. This approach delivers higher-resolution imaging with reduced radiation exposure and improved tissue differentiation.

Clinical benefits include clearer visualization of small blood vessels, earlier detection of tumors, enhanced neurological assessment, and safer lung examinations. The system’s resolution supports earlier diagnosis and more accurate treatment planning.

The platform integrates four innovation modules: NeuPhoton Counting, Photon Supersonic, Photon Intelligence, and Photon Research. Together, these provide faster imaging, reduced patient exposure, AI-enabled workflow support, and expanded research capabilities.

Neusoft Medical CEO Patrick Wu called the approval a milestone for Chinese medical imaging and a significant step forward for CT technology globally. The company positions the NeuViz P10 as a system that will enhance diagnostic precision while supporting earlier interventions in a wide range of clinical settings.
