Sound Blade Medical has closed an oversubscribed $16.5 million Series A financing round co-led by Amzak Health and Lumira Ventures, with additional participation from Invest Nova Scotia. This capital infusion will accelerate the development and clinical trials of the company’s breakthrough handheld ultrasound-guided histotripsy technology, which aims to transform treatment options for multiple medical conditions.

Jeremy Brown, Ph.D., Co-founder and CEO of Sound Blade, expressed enthusiasm about the funding: “This investment is a strong endorsement of our vision and technology. It enables us to enhance our capabilities, pursue regulatory approvals, and bring our advanced ultrasound therapy to patients sooner.”

Histotripsy, a non-invasive procedure utilizing focused ultrasound to precisely target and disintegrate tissue, represents a significant leap forward in medical treatment. This method promises substantial benefits over traditional surgery, including reduced recovery times, lower risk of complications, and minimal invasiveness. As Sound Blade Medical continues to pioneer this technology, the healthcare landscape anticipates a shift towards more efficient, less invasive treatment modalities.
