Aarhus University Hospital

With more than 12,000 employees, it is the largest workplace in the municipality. Its facilities, comparable in size to the city of Ribe, integrate closely with Aarhus University, incorporating research facilities directly on site, and collaborate with VIA University College, located adjacent to the campus.

The hospital attracts experts and researchers from around the world and hosts approximately 3,000 students and trainees annually. It has been named Denmark’s Best Hospital 14 times between 2007 and 2021, and again in 2023. In 2022, Aarhus University Hospital joined the European University Hospital Alliance (EUHA), a network of Europe’s leading university hospitals in treatment, education, and research.

Global rankings further underscore its reputation: according to Newsweek’s 2023 evaluation of 2,200 hospitals, Aarhus University Hospital is ranked 19th worldwide and 9th in Europe. In the field of digital health, it holds the position of 16th globally and third in Europe, highlighting its leadership in digitalization and innovation.
