Founded in 1906 and affiliated with the University of Barcelona, Hospital Clínic is a public teaching hospital with ~800+ beds, handling large volumes of outpatient, inpatient, and emergency care.

It organizes its work through medical and surgical institutes, including a dedicated Institute for Cancer & Hematologic Diseases, and multiple highly specialized units (transplantation of kidney, liver; bone marrow transplants; neurosurgery; cardiology etc.).
